Slingco Hold an Open Day

In celebration of one full year at its new 16,000 square-feet, Lancashire-based facility, housing office, warehousing and factory space, family-run Slingco opened its doors to customers and other companies connected to the business. Slingco services a broad range of markets with its wire rope and engineering solutions and a diverse range of companies were represented on the day - from theatre equipment suppliers to garage equipment suppliers, and from lift installers to aerospace designers.
The move from their previous home four miles away has given them a 50% increase in building size and additional land for expansion. With the building needing extensive remedial work prior to moving in, the Slingco team were able to shape the facility just as they wanted it.

On the day, sales director Matt Dykins introduced visitors to the full scope of the company's work and interests, including the new US subsidiary, Slingco America, Inc., and outlined ongoing projects including those from the Atlanta, Georgia base.

A factory tour demonstrated the wide variety of materials in production and the rigorous and stringent testing of those materials, so necessary when their products are found sub-sea or in fighter jets to name just two stressful environments.

The tour culminated in the design office where the CAD team and project managers talked visitors through videos and 3D designs detailing recent installations of Slingco's flagship theatre product, Cablenet tension wire grids - the Virtual Floor for performance venues which maximises both rigging positions and light availability and most importantly, worker-safety - including the world's largest installation of its kind at the BIC in Bournemouth.

Slingco managing director, Nick Dykins, explained the reasons behind the open day: "We know Slingco has to continuously change to survive and prosper and there is no better way than learning from our customers how we can improve, adapt and let them see our capabilities first hand. It also allowed all the staff an opportunity to meet those people who they ultimately work for, and for us to show valued customers our appreciation."
