AKG Launches New D7 Vocal Mic
AKG has announced the new D7 high-performance vocal mic, which will make its PLASA Show debut in September.
The reference-quality dynamic microphone delivers a powerfully accurate sound that evokes the detailed, open characteristics of a condenser mic. Thanks to its well-controlled supercardioid pickup and new Laminate Varimotion diaphragm technology, the D7 delivers extraordinarily high gain-before-feedback and smooth, peak-free response. This ensures that the D7's response is fine tuned without the need for extra tuning resonators.
"We have designed the D7 microphone for musicians that require something special and exclusive," explained Thomas Umbauer, Product Manager, AKG Acoustics. "The new acoustical designed inner windscreen makes you feel more secure in live use, and the precision metal dust filter provides a consistent barrier to the diaphragm."
The D7 also features an integrated high-pass filter that reduces unwanted low frequencies to minimise proximity effect and dramatically lower handling noise, while the built-in hum-cancelling coil greatly minimises electro-magnetic and electrical interference, ensuring that only pure vocal sounds come through.
As for construction, with its custom-built capsule mounting, spring steel wire-mesh grill and a heavy all-metal body, the D7 is a durable and reliable microphone solution for the active demands of live musicians.
The result is a reference-quality microphone for live sound that offers complete control for singers and announcers and, therefore, a better audio experience for audiences.
