Robe Makes a Big Exit in Serbia

Rental company Studio Berar supplied over 100 Robe moving light fixtures for lighting the Main and Dance stages at the 2008 Exit Festival, held in the picturesque Petrovaradin fortress of Novi Sad, Serbia.
The production design for the 35,000 capacity main stage was created by Studio Berar's Marko Malešević. It was based on the need to have a flexible rig that would work for all artists including those bringing their own LDs. Malešević also lit several bands playing at the event including Gogol Bordelo, Juliet & The Licks, Manu Chao and others.
The Studio Berar team installed a trussing grid, below the 25 metre wide, 14 deep roof which offered an impressive 18 metres of headroom. The moving lights - 20 Robe ColorSpot 700E ATs and 50 Robe ColorWash 575E ATs - were arranged across the grid, with 60 metres of Tecno Vision LED at the back.
Malešević comments: "Robe's a great choice, specially for open air gigs, and the lights have proved reliable time and time again. All the visiting LDs were also happy to use them."
The Robes - along with strobes, other moving lights and a large conventional rig - were controlled via an Avo Sapphire console.
For the Dance Stage, this was the fifth consecutive year that Studio Berar has supplied lighting equipment to this arena in the festival, which has now grown to a capacity of 25000. It was designed by Arsa Zlatkovic, who used an Avolites Pearl to control all the moving lights which included 12 Robe ColorWash 575E ATs, 12 ColorSpot 575E ATs and 12 Robe Scan 575 XTs, along with other moving lights and effects, strobes, space canons and 80 conventionals.
Zlatkovic has seen the stage grow in popularity and production values over the last years years, and comments: "Robe is a great brand to use for an event like this as the products are so tough and robust in any type of weather."
Started in 2000 by three students at Novi Sad university, in 2007, the Exit Festival was awarded ‘Best European Festival' by the UK Festival Awards/Yourope, the European Association of Europe's 40 largest festivals. This was decided after a worldwide public vote taking place over a month.
The 2008 line up included N-E-R-D, Primal Scream, The Streets, Roni Size & Reprazent, The Sex Pistols, Paul Weller and many more, totalling over 500 artists appearing across 20 stages.
