i-Pix at PLASA 2008

Specialist LED manufacturer i-Pix will be showing its product range on stand D 69, sharing the space with Amptown, who produce flight cases for all i-Pix products. Highlighted i-Pix products will be the new BB7 and BB4 fixtures and the original Satellite.

i-Pix is dedicated to producing designer-led, energy efficient products that will help contribute to a more carbon-neutral and sustainable industry.

The i-Pix BB 7 is a seven cell high power homogenized 10 degree RGB source, using a Lamina custom light engine. This fixture consumes 210 Watts at 240 volts and was originally designed for Radiohead's current world tour (LD Andi Watson). The fixture features seven cells of beam control, bringing a fresh feel to modern low power beam manipulation. Its unique petal like appearance is also highly attractive, and ideal for applications where aesthetics are important or the fixtures are visible even when not in use.

The i-Pix BB 4 is a four cell high power homogenized 20 degree RGB washlight/blinder source, using the same custom Lamina light engine, produced exclusively for i-Pix by Lamina Ceramics in New York. It consumes 120 watts at 240 volts, on full power and gives hire companies and designers full flexibility with a set of optical and rigging accessories. The BB 4 is ideal for powerful cyc and set washes or for use as a ‘blinder' effect. Both fixtures feature 16 bit resolution for finer control of colour choice, which is in the billions!

The now famous and globally popular i-Pix Satellite is a self-contained 42 Watt RGB LED wash fixture with power and data daisy-chaining ability, with the potential of running up to 60 fixtures off a single 16 Amp feed! Using the highest powered LEDs available, the Satellite ‘brick' contains a neat electronics design for easy setup and maximum  functionality. It is very quick to rig and has a punchy light output that produces virtually no heat and helps reduce energy consumption.

i-Pix products recent and current tours include Radiohead, Coldplay, Kylie, Oasis, The Killers, Kasabian, Prodigy, The Verve and many more, plus a variety of TV shows including The National Lottery Draw, where the studio installation of Satellites is now entering its third year of daily use.
