New ZED Mixer is a Hit for Wayne Hemingway

Funk-Shone, a nine-piece up-and-coming funk band from London was asked to play for world famous fashion designer and TV personality, Wayne Hemingway, at his exclusive 25th wedding anniversary celebrations, and the mixer employed for the event was Allen & Heath's new ZED-428 4 bus mixer.

"Wayne heard our set played on the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC 6 Music live and he really wanted us to play at his party, so I spoke with Jason Walsh who looks after our live sound. He had recently bought a new desk - the ZED-428 - and this would be its debut gig. That created a really excited vibe amongst the band, and on the night it all worked a treat and we tore the place apart," explained band leader and all-round funky drummer Mike Bandoni.

"It's not every day that you get the call to provide sound support for this type of event but the ZED-428 rose to the demanding challenge with ease," said Walsh. "I had been looking for a 24-input desk to add to my hire inventory and as I've always liked Allen & Heath products, I thought I would have a look in that direction. I needed a desk that would be very immediate and totally hands on, with a good warm EQ section, and would best suit the needs of my client base. After seeing the ZED at the recent ABTT show I knew this was the right choice to make."

The ZED-428 was complemented with an EV FOH and Logic Systems monitor speakers, with KT DN 360 EQ and Lexicon FX.

"The real bonus was the Sonar 6 LE software, which allowed us to get a really accurate recording of the event, which was a useful archiving tool for the band and the perfect way for Wayne to have a copy of the set to remember a first class evening. Top marks to Allen & Heath for yet another successful mixer of distinction!" concludes Walsh.
