Optocore and Yamaha Solution for 2008 Eisteddfod

HD Pro Audio has supplied an Optocore system and 48-channel Yamaha M7CL to Concert Sound for this year's Eisteddfod Festival.

With roots that can be traced back to 1176, this year's National Eisteddfod of Wales was held from the 2nd to 9th August at multiple sites and venues throughout Cardiff. Celebrating Welsh culture and heritage, the Eisteddfod attracts around 160,000 visitors annually.

Luton-based Concert Sound has a long association with Eisteddfod and is responsible for the audio at 18 venues at this year's festival. This includes the Theatre venue, which accommodates an audience of around 250 for a very mixed variety of shows and events with four to five performances a day. The performances range from complex drama and plays to competitions and solo entertainers.

"Speed and flexibility were the key factors in the choice of equipment for this venue," explained Andy Davies of Concert Sound. "The Optocore optical network system is really quick and easy to set up with the Yamaha, and performs flawlessly. With more in/outs than an analogue system it gives us great flexibility for multiple shows with limited advance notice of the running order. Space is also limited at the Theatre so the size advantage of this system is a real bonus."

Davies concludes: "Optocore and Yamaha really are the perfect combination for this type of application and HD Pro Audio has delivered it with first rate service and great support by Andy Huffer."
