Stage Electrics Lights Up Big Brother 9 Final
Stage Electrics provided all intelligent lighting for Friday night's spectacular live Big Brother 9 final. Friday's rain-soaked final marked the end of 13 weeks of Big Brother 2008, with trainee teacher Rachel walking away £100,000 richer as this year's winner after surviving 93 days in the Big Brother house. Stage Electrics has supplied all moving lights, LED lighting, control systems and crew for the duration of the live eviction shows, from the main launch night back in June, through to weekly Friday night live eviction shows, including the studio interviews hosted by Davina McCall.
For the final, Stage Electrics' crew moved the inside studio (normally used for evictee interviews) to the outside and onto the Orbit stage provided by Serious Structures, ready to host the live interviews as the finalists left the house. The exterior studio set included eight VL 3500, eight VL 2000 moving lights, and Chroma Strip from Pulsar on the eyebrow of the stage. Stage Electrics crew had to perform a quick turnaround after Tuesday's surprise double eviction show, having to relocate the studio and lighting ready for rehearsals 48 hours later on Thursday.
On the exterior wall of the house Stage Electrics provided 10 MAC 2000 performance units, each with a customised gobo which had an individual shard of the Big Brother eye, projected onto the side of the house as an individual light. The red streak in the Big Brother eye was provided by a VL 3500 with another custom gobo. For the launch show and the live evictions Stage Electrics provided nine Clay Pakey Alpha Beam 300s for audience lighting, and numerous Pulsar Chroma Flood 200s to up light the front of the house. The Alpha Beams were relocated to the roof of the house in time for the final, to further enhance the search light effects. In addition to this, six 4.5kW Big Lite searchlights were used.
This year marks the 4th series Stage Electrics has worked with Big Brother's lighting director Darryl Noad.
