Credit Crisis Real or Perceived?
The Institute of Sound and Communications Engineers is taking positive steps as a result of the threat of the current financial crisis. Many companies who may be unaffected at present are envisaging the arrival of some financial tsunami and as a consequence, they are battening down the proverbial hatches. To many this is known as a self-fulfilling prophecy. In essence this can be best described as follows: "The self-fulfilling prophecy is, in the beginning, a false definition of the situation evoking a new behaviour, which makes the original false conception come 'true'. This specious validity of the self-fulfilling prophecy perpetuates a reign of error. For the prophet will cite the actual course of events as proof that he was right from the very beginning."
As an Institute offering the highest standards in training and professionalism, this situation can be seen as a opportunity to address the potential problems without taken the type of actions that would have a long term injurious effect on the business - for example reduction in marketing, PR, attendance at exhibitions and a reduction of stock to a level that could reduce potential turnover when needed. The ISCE will hold their annual exhibition at the newly refurbished Park Inn in Watford on 3 March 2009. There will be an opportunity to see the latest technological developments in the public address and sound reinforcement fields including systems required to be fitted under regulation and law.
You will have the opportunity to attend seminars and learn about the many technical courses available to both members and non members.
It is hoped to set a panel of experts to discuss the various ways of dealing with a potential financial crisis and avoid that self-fulfilling prophecy.
Details of ISCEx2009 and the seminar sessions to be held on the day, are available from Ros Wigmore at the ISCE on 0118 9542175 or email ros@isce.org.uk.
