Curve and Stage Technologies Launch Trailblazing Collaboration
On Wednesday 21 January Curve will host the first annual Stage Technologies day, providing Association of British Theatre Technicians members and other industry professionals an opportunity to view this extraordinary building. This marks the first official event in the unique partnership created between Leceister Theatre Trust, the management organisation for Curve, and Stage Technologies. The collaboration has the potential to advance the development and use of technology used on stages all over the world in a way never envisioned before. The benefits to staff and customers of the partnership organisations and eventually to the industry as a whole could be unprecedented.
John Hastie, operations director for Stage Technologies said: "We see Curve as exemplifying the future of theatre and the opportunity to operate our products and test new ideas in their magnificent building is invaluable to us in creating the industry equipment of the future. Through this collaboration we have the opportunity to develop the next generation of incredible visual, audio and automated technologies, which will wow audiences at live performances all over the world. The benefits to Curve, as for any organisation who uses our products, include cutting edge equipment, round-the-clock support and superb training for their in-house staff by leading experts from our team."
Graham Lister, projects director for Leicester Theatre Trust said: The support and equipment Stage Technologies has provided through the opening series of events at Curve has been superb. Their work in advising on and installing key pieces of equipment and in training staff has allowed our creative aspirations for Lift Off and Simply Cinderella to take flight. The smooth running of those very early performances simply wouldn't have been possible without them."
The launch will bring leading practitioners and stakeholders from the entertainment industry to Leicester. The day will include a tour the building and a full overview of the role of industry technology in its conception, design and operation. Delegates will be provided the opportunity to discuss the journey Curve has taken from planning to opening with Graham Lister, representatives from the architect Rafael Vinoly's firm and theatre consultants.
The on-going partnership will allow training days for students and industry practitioners from all over the country and beyond to attend Curve and learn how a state-of-the-art-theatre uses up-to-the-minute technological innovations in day to day operations.
