Status Quo Keeps On Rocking with grandMA

When 40 years ago an English band changed their name from Traffic Jam to Status Quo surely no one would have guessed that this name would write rock history. With 63 chart hits in the UK alone and an estimated number of 6000 live shows Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt and their past and present band members have become a constant on stages all over the world. For many years lighting designer Patrick Marks has accompanied Status Quo around the globe. Two years ago he started working with grandMa: "I never ever had a problem with the desk," he says. For the current tour ‘Pictures - 40 Years of Hits' Marks relies on a grandMA full-size.
"I really enjoy working with the grandma," says Marks, "You can configure the console the way you like it the most." During the tour Marks changed the set: "It's a totally new rig. There is no more Kabuki now, no Parcans either. I use 22 Vari*Lite VL3500 spots, some Martin moving heads, nine ETC Source Fours and three projection screens above the stage. Scheming the show was easy - after the screens were set the rest designed itself," Marks states with a smile. "The programming on the grandMA was truly comfortable and easy."
Andy Taylor is the tour/production manager. Sune During and Asbjorn Gall Hemmingsen are lighting technicians. Nordic Rentals A/S supplied the lighting equipment.
