Clean Sweep for Central Students at Lighting Awards
Students from the Central School of Speech and Drama have made a clean sweep of the prestigious 2009 Michael Northen Awards for student lighting design.
Dan Hill, who will begin his third year on the BA Theatre Practice course in October, was judged overall winner for his outstanding work on Woyzeck in the Embassy Theatre. David Alcorta and Fiffi Thorsteinsson, both of whom graduated earlier this year, received awards for their work on The Runners at The Shunt Vaults and Godfather Death at Wimbledon Studios respectively.
This is the first time that all three awards have gone to students from a single institution. And it is the second major success story for Central students this month. Three other students have just returned from China having been selected for UK-China 400, an exchange of future leaders as a joint initiative of The All China Youth Federation (ACYF) and the British Council in China. They were Charlotte Corner, Nessah Muthy and Ruby Glaskin.
