So Who Is Protecting Spandau Ballet?
On their 2009 reunion tour, Spandau Ballet can well afford to demand, and be surrounded with, the best production team in the business. The crew list sounds like a ‘who's who' of the world's leading ‘backstage magicians'. However, following the recent fatalities on tours by several leading artists, tour director Ken Watts personally requested the services of a key member of the team to keep everyone legal and safe, Chris Hannam of Stagesafe. Chris, as a leading live event safety expert, is providing consultancy on all pre-production, rehearsal and tour logistics, liaising with the entire production team on all safety matters.
Chris said: "It's great to be working with such an illustrious team of production professionals, that only makes the role of a safety consultant much easier, but we can't afford to be complacent with matters of safety."
The tour's next stop is the O2 Arena in London with three performances to over 60,000 people.
