Q2Q Group Embark on DTS and Zero88 Shopping Spree via Lightfactor
As the little people of tomorrow sang along to their favourite pre-school songs, enthusiastically provided by the UK Cast of the Australian TV show Hi-5, they boogied in the aisles whilst Mums and Dads alike tried to look like they too were enjoying the experience!
High above the heads of the nano-fan club, the smooth and efficient PLASA award winning DTS lighting units, supplied by Peter Coles of Lightfactor Sales, were effectively put through their paces. Coles stated that these units are built with a high industrial quality certainly durable for any tour or concert. And he proudly stated that Lightfactor were the sole UK distributor for DTS lighting fixtures.
Using an array of DTS Spots, Wash, RGB LED Flood and RGB LED Strip, co-lighting designer Steve Hubbard programmed a deep comic-book-like hue of colour wash and moving light effects.
Praising the great optics, ensuring far brighter luminous intensity on a lower wattage discharge lamp, Hubbard stated: "...this ensures a greater focal length in the practical use of the units in their use as part of a touring lighting design in a quick plot environment."
Whilst leaning over the new Zero 88 ORB lighting control desk also provided as part of the Lightfactor sales package, Hubbard praised both the ORB's ease of use, systems support and capability. Heralding the need for desk space during a tour, he demonstrated that the "wrist space" provided by the ORB's layout really made a difference to pressurised, last minute programming needs. Utilising twin screens with touch capability, Zero 88's ORB sat happily and proudly at the back of the stalls alongside the typical layout of the multitude of sound racks and Apple Macs!
Lightfactor's director of sales, Steve Coles, reeled off the kit list they have gladly supplied The Q2Q Group with as part of the UK Tour. The Hi-5 sales package included: six DTS XR 2000 CMY Spots, four DTS XR1200 Washes, six DTS Delta 7 RGB LED Floods, six Titian Solo RGBs, four DTS FOS 100 Strips, along with the Zero 88 ORB lighting desk
Overseeing the gig was production manager and CEO of The Q2Q Group, Koen van Geene, who explained that from contract to completion a mere four weeks existed, requiring a flight out to Australia, seeing the show, learn it, tender the set design construction and transportation contracts and ensure a re-light of the concept of the lighting design that UK Co-LD's Tim Soden and Steve Hubbard had to realise via a handy-cam movie of the Oz version.
