‘So.Net' Sound-over-Ethernet from Clever Little Box

CIE-Group, one of the UK's providers of AV equipment to the professional installation market continues the development of their own UK designed and built ‘Clever Little Box' range, with the launch of the new ‘So.Net' Cat5 Audio Distribution System.
Priced at a fraction of alternative, more complex sound-over-Ethernet systems, So.Net has been designed to simplify and speed up audio installations where multiple microphone inputs or line level inputs need to be situated a distance from the amplifier equipment.
Using only one shielded Cat5 cable to run up to four channels of mic and/or line over a distance of up to 1km, So.Net removes the need for multiple cable runs from remote audio inputs to the amplifier equipment.
Comprising two double-gang faceplates - Input and Output, each featuring 4 XLR connectors - the signals can be independently configured for balanced or unbalanced signals and mic or line level. There is also an option to provide phantom power to the microphone independently (to a maximum of 15v DC).
Each of the two faceplate units fits neatly into a standard UK double-gang back box and only requires a power supply at the output or amplifier end (PSU supplied as part of the system).
With such a reduction in cable run requirements and with the 1000m distance achievable, So.Net provides huge advantages in church installs and retro fit installations, whilst the use of standard Cat5 cable means that existing network infrastructure can also be used (where spare network points are available) in corporate, education and retail installations, significantly reducing installation time and costs.
