MC2 Audio Distributor for Greece Lights Up the Market
Thessaloniki based MC2 Audio distributor for Greece, Space Lights, have been making big waves with E Series amplifiers. On a recent visit to Space Lights, MC2 Audio sales director Bill Woods was delighted to learn of some amazing installations undertaken by the company.
Klem Tokatlidis, Space Light's Import and Export Manager, explains: "Many installations throughout Greece and in the vicinity of Thessaloniki in particular move outside for the summer. Last spring we sold an HK Audio Cohedra Compact system, powered by MC2 E Series amplification, to the Beach Bar of the University of Thessaloniki camping site, on the beach in Chalkidiki. Since then these amplifiers have been working 24/7 literally, entertaining 7,000 students every day and night for the whole summer on the beach, the sound is clear and clean and has never missed a beat!"
Space Lights started out as a lighting manufacturer in Thessaloniki in 1983. Original partners, Christos Asproulis and Athanasios Gourgoulas, quickly realised that Chinese manufactured products were improving in quality and were very cost efficient, so they switched from manufacturing to distribution quickly gathering a formidable portfolio of lighting brands such as PR Lighting, Nanyi Lighting and more.
Klem Tokatlidis joined the company in 1989. As an Australian-born Greek citizen, his multilingual talent was quickly utilised, gathering more complementary brands for Space Lights. "Having established a great offering in lighting we naturally turned our attention to audio. HK Audio was one of our first brands and they are still the cornerstone of our audio portfolio. In 2008 we were delighted to undertake the distribution of MC2 Audio, which has proven to be an excellent partner for our HK Audio loudspeakers. The Club Cohedra Compact system on the beach is pretty typical of the level of use our systems in Greece have to undergo. We are happy because the customers are happy!"
