Show-Way 2010 Technical Lighting Meetings

In addition to the already announced Audio seminars, Technical Lighting will be the subject of special events at Show-Way 2010, the Italian Entertainment Technology Exhibition. Organized by Promoberg in collaboration with APIAS, it will take place at Bergamo Exhibition Center from 28th February till 2nd March 2010.

On Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd March, high-ranking professionals will take turns on the Show Way stage to relate their professional experiences. These occasions will provide important opportunities for discussions between architects, lighting designers, and managers of public bodies and regional cultural heritage departments.

The feature that all the speakers have in common, besides their undisputed Europe-wide fame, is their willingness to spread their knowledge. They are all professors on the second level master course for experts in architectural and artistic lighting engineering at the IUAV University in Venice, which since its inaugural year has produced a class of successful young lighting designers.

The three workshops on the schedule will focus their attention on subjects that are both fascinating and extremely topical, and will take all those who attend down a path towards sure professional growth.

Workshop 1

LIGHT AS TRANSFORMATION

Light is an immaterial element able to transform the identity of a place, and even distort it. Light recalls the past, suggests the future and changes the face of the present. What kinds of magic can be performed with lighting?

Speakers: archt. Francesco Iannone (FPLDA, APIL, ADI), arch. Serena Tellini (PLDA) - Consuline Architetti Associati, Lighting Designers, archt. Elena Penzo,

Workshop 2

STREET LIGHTING AND LIGHTING PLANS

Town lighting needs to be used increasingly consciously, efficiently and wisely. New technology, new regulations and new laws often work together in contradictory ways. The lighting plans, which should rationalise street lighting, risk turning into missed opportunities. How should we illuminate town centres and suburbs?

Speakers: archt. Alessandro Grassia - Studio Grassia, Lighting Designer, eng. Lorenzo Fellin, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Università degli Studi di Padova and AIDI board member

Workshop 3

LIGHT AND CULTURAL HERITAGE

Natural light is an integral part of all cultural heritage: architecture, sculptures and paintings could not live without it. Artificial light, on the other hand, often misinterprets works of art: it reverses shadows, changes colours and damages the materials they are made from. Designing lighting for our cultural heritage means combining technology and art to bring out the immortality of the work and help the spectator grasp its secrets. How can a work of art be artfully illuminated?
