Yamaha's Band for a Grand Search Reaches Climax at the Stables

A capacity audience was treated to an evening of explosive and inspiring performances at The Stables earlier this week as Yamaha's search for the UK's top unsigned talent culminated in the five bands bidding to win Yamaha's acclaimed Band for a Grand competition.
In the end The Theory Of 6 Degrees took top honours and claimed the first prize of Yamaha gear and professional studio time. Other bands performing included Cousin avi, No Sharp Objects, SilverFin and Ocean Bottom Nightmare all of whom had been invited to the final following a month long public vote on Yamaha's newly launched download music site.
The high profile musician and producer judging panel casting the final vote on the evening included Skunk Anasie drummer Mark Richardson, Sugarbabes Keyboard player Hannah Vasanth and Pixie Lott's drummer Sean Barry , all balanced by top producer Darren Allison.
Yamaha's National Band for a Grand music competition for original artists and bands has proved hugely successful over the past two years and the idea behind a live final was to provide a sneak preview of some of the very best acts and talent that look set to break through in 2010. The event was held in aid of the ChildLine Rocks charity which supports ChildLine, the free helpline for children provided by the NSPCC. The event coincided with a major national 'first lesson free' campaign currently underway in association with the charity.
Yamaha's Ricci Hodgson commented: "we were thrilled to have drawn a capacity audience for the Band for a Grand showcase final, it's been a labour of love for our pro music team, on the night we had metal rock, ska, pop and and a real mixture of genre's. It's been a real pleasure to support these young bands as they embark on the tough journey to musical success, we expect big things from them all, and will be staying in touch with them ongoing."
