City Theatrical Provides SHoW DMX to Oliver! In London
City Theatrical has provided more SHoW DMX wireless DMX equipment to specialist lighting contractor Howard Eaton Lighting Ltd. for Cameron Mackintosh's new production of Oliver! - now playing at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in London's West End.
SHoW DMX is used on the production to provide DMX control to dimmers and smoke machines mounted on a large scenic flying piece, which would otherwise have entailed a complex and troublesome cable run to the already crowded theatre flying grid.
For many years, WDS Wireless Data System, SHoW DMX's forerunner, provided London's West End shows with wireless DMX, and the new technology of SHoW DMX is rapidly establishing itself as the wireless DMX system of choice for professional users in London, on Broadway, in Las Vegas, and in other venues around the world.
CTI's patented SHoW DMX system synchronises the hopping pattern of the radio with the incoming DMX packet to attain levels of data fidelity previously unreachable with wireless DMX. Additionally, SHoW DMX has a range of features including adjustable output power, limited bandwidth mode, and limited burst mode that allow it to peacefully coexist with other radio signals in the busy 2.4GHz band.
SHoW DMX also is fully RDM so users can change radio settings and monitor receiver strength from their laptop during the performance, as well as monitor any other manufacturer's RDM gear on their production.
The production lighting designer for Oliver! is Paule Constable, and the senior production electrician is Gerry Amies. Lighting equipment was provided by Stage Electrics.
