ITV's Dancing on ice draws an impressive 9.5 million viewers every Sunday evening.

Lighting designer is Dave Davey with assistance from Dave Hallet and console operators Bill Peachment and John Ford. The lighting and projection media servers are controlled by two Compulite Vector Greens and Bill's desk has all the set and effects lighting as well as the Hippotizer media server to project onto the ice. John looks after the artists' lighting with a mixture of conventional lights and automated wash and profile fixtures.

John Ford commented: "Coming from a background of controlling conventional/people lighting on the Galaxy, I've taken to the Vector very quickly. It's ideal for this kind of cue intensive show - I use palettes extensively, and I've found the logic of the desk very easy to get used to, so  now during a live show I'm concentrating on the lighting and not on how the desk works."

Bill Peachment said:  "The Vector system works very well on this series for all the usual reasons of reliability and speed of programming. The addition of remote wings to my system has been very useful for programming the desk from different positions using wireless Ethernet to enable me to move around easily. The Ethernet and Eport system also make wiring and back up simple on this large system."

The complete lighting rig includes: 47 VL 2416 Washes, 18 VL 2000 Washes, 10 VL 2500 Spots, eight VL 2000 Spots, 15 VL 6C Spots, three Novaflowers, six VL1K  framing spots, 30 VL2000 washes, 30 Thomas PixelPars, 583 Snicksnack RGB LED trips, 14 Color Blasts and 10 Source 4 Revolutions. 148 dimmer channels are involved.
