Alpha Media Solutions Invests in more DiGiCo Digital Console Technology

Event service provider Alpha Media Solutions (AMS) has purchased three digital consoles from DiGiCo's German distributor atlantic audio. An SD8 - DiGiCo's new entry-level desk - and an SD7 - DiGiCo's flagship console - were delivered at the end of October and December 2008 respectively and another SD8 will further enhance AMS's pro audio inventory in March 2009.

Based in Hechingen, near Stuttgart, AMS has been involved in the professional event business for more than 20 years and its customers benefit from the company's technical and organisational know-how and its experienced staff. "The thing that people remember about an event is its uniqueness," says AMS's owner Jürgen Wirth. "The moment passes, but the fascination will remain - to ensure that this happens, you need technology you can count on!"

This sense of ownership comes across in the AMS website, which highlights the philosophy of Wirth and his team and gives an overview of the projects that create such unforgettable, emotional experiences for the audience. Wirth's philosophy of using only the most reliable technology means that AMS offers an exceptional product range that meets the ever-increasing demands of his customers, both now and into the future.

Wirth is rightly proud of his business activities. These span company events, annual shareholder meetings, theatre productions, concerts, fairs and public events where AMS provides sound, lighting and video requirements, with its DiGiCo consoles playing a major role in the success of its event organisation.

Wirth reflects on his decision to opt for DiGiCo consoles. "I invested in a D5 in 2007 because, in my opinion, it was the best console on the market," he says. "While other manufacturers were taking their time over technological development, DiGiCo was really fast and innovative. I was so enthusiastic about the progress of its digital technology and the easy usability of the console. The D5 is configured intuitively and in a way that is similar to analogue consoles. My technical staff could acquaint themselves with the console by making use of atlantic audio's in-house training and DiGiCo´s mentoring, even if their first job was at short notice. Another important aspect was the flexibility and possible applications. We use the D5 for industrial and corporate business, as well as for music orientated events.

"So when we were looking to make further investment in consoles, it was obvious to us that we should look at the SD7 and SD8 as these consoles are the logical continuation of D5: they have a small footprint, the most up-to-date processors and user interfaces that leave nothing to desire. From a business perspective, I appreciate that my engineers can make the transition from one console to another very easily as they don't need to learn a new way of working.

"For me, the SD7 really is the "state-of-the-art" console for the coming years. Since introducing the SD8, my business partner pointed out that there is increasing interest in this console. My purchase decision has already paid dividends, with all consoles out working on a regular basis. In fact, since getting the first SD8, which has been permanently out on the road, I went for a further SD8 for our rental stock, which we will take delivery of in March 2009. Having two SD8s will give us a further advantage as we will now be able to offer a full production" on DiGiCo´s SD8 both as front of house and monitor console.

"If you want to do good business, you have to be innovative and have to make sure you invest for the future. But for me, business is more than just technical facts and figures. Our engineers love DiGiCo consoles: as well as having an attractive design, they work simply and safely. We enjoy working with atlantic audio and have a very competent partner that provides us with great support. We are in good hands and we feel at ease with the DiGiCo family."
