An Explosion of Effects at the 2009 Festival de Verão

When summer arrives in South America, every event becomes a big party and towns like Salvador de Bahia explode with life. Awaiting the beginning of Carnival, this is the site of the Festival de Verão, a musical event held in the large Parque de Exposições and able to draw over 200,000 people per night.
The most famous artists of the Brazilian music scene (such as Ivete Sangalo and Chiclete Com Banana) alternated on stage with international artists, which included Alanis Morissette on the last night. The set and the lighting rig were adapted to suit the shows of the various artists, turning every performance into a highly personal concert.
The show's lighting design was realised almost exclusively with SGM moving head fixtures and LED colour changers. Giotto 400 Spot and Wash units and Idea Wash 575 were used in the systems installed for the vertical and horizontal lighting of the stage set. Synthesis Spot 700 were used for backlighting effects and the illumination of the backdrop, while Synthesis Wash 700 fixtures positioned in front of the stage were responsible for overall set colouring. Ribalta colour changers were used to colour the large side banners, highlighting the festival's logo.
Lastly, Giotto Digital 1500 painted the set with high impact digital graphic effects that were in perfect sync with the various shows.
Two other main stages were set up in the Parque de Exposições, illuminated by dozens of Giotto Spot 400 and Ribalta RGB moving head fixtures, and festival attendees went there to sip cool thirst-quenching drinks while listening to the music.
