Audient on the road with C-Live
A 36-channel Audient ASP8024 is the console of choice which completes mobile sound recording unit for new company C-Live. Designed entirely by owner/manager Thierry Ozouf, the compact and perfectly formed studio-on-wheels is now ready for hire at festivals and concerts.
"Deciding on the console wasn't difficult," explains Ozouf, from his headquarters in northernmost France. "I had read a few articles in the press and the engineers at Audient have a great reputation. I know of two excellent studios in France that had recently bought the 24-channel models as well," he continues. "On top of that, the audio console market doesn't offer anything else of the same quality in this price bracket."
Ozouf has teamed the 36-channel Audient desk with a Pyramix workstation and Sydec converters: iBox 64-MADI-T and iBox 48-TA.
It was his strong sound engineering background after training in Paris, interspersed with many a weekend spent recording concerts, that first gave Ozouf the idea of building his own mobile unit. "It took eight months of construction; the only thing I didn't do myself was paint the outside of the truck," he says.
This is the third mobile project that Ozouf has been involved in, but the first whilst heading up new company C-Live. "Now the studio is up and running, I am looking for a collaborator for the commercial side who can bring in knowledge of the record and entertainment industry," explains the entrepreneur, who is brimming with enthusiasm. "The company's next investment will be in 5.1 equipment, for DVD recording and I'd like to offer our services to neighbouring countries soon, too."
