Following many months of discussion, Lighting Effects Distribution have been appointed exclusive UK distributors for the inventive and wide-ranging lighting portfolio from Italian company Colours.

The pact marks a reunion for L.E.D. managing director Ian Kirby and Ivano Burato, who was most recently with French company Ayrton (distributed in the UK by L.E.D).

Burato, in conjunction with former colleagues from Coemar spa, set up the new company in the north Italian lighting hotbed of Castelgoffredo, and this month presented its exciting and innovative range in the UK at an open day held by television specialists, Richard Martin Lighting.

Said Ivano Burato: "It was always my intention to approach Lighting Effects Distribution to handle our products after meeting at last year's PLASA Show, and once the Ayrton contract ended in December we started talking."

"This is a highly innovative product portfolio," responded an enthusiastic Ian Kirby. "It ranges from the DMX Pen, a discreet DMX show record/playback stick, and the ingenious Follow Me, a tripod-mounted, clutch-driven steering device, for remote positioning of multiple motorized DMX profiles for use as follow spots. This has huge space saving advantages for television studios."

He also noted many advantages of the Colours LED range. "This includes the use of tricolour LEDs, in which the colour mix takes place within the lamps, and the fact that each LED can be controlled individually. Again, this will produce huge benefits to the TV studio world, as tricolour LEDs read so much better to camera. On top of everything else, the range is manufactured 100% in Italy."
