V-LED Spell Dawns over Dublin's Dusk

The first of PR Lighting's new V-LED Spell pixelated wall tile displays has been permanently sited outside the brand new Dusk nightclub in Dublin.
When Gary Payne, owner of the €2m euro development, set out his plan to convert his former music lounge above Liz Delaneys Bar into a cutting-edge, contemporary nightclub, he knew that an optimally-sited digital promotion and graphics display would attract customers from the retail park in which his leisure complex is based, like moths to a flame.
Situated in the densely-populated working class area of Coolock, close to Dublin Airport, he realised he had a potential catchment of 250,000 people to aim at - and that the 12-tile, 3.6m x 2.4m PR Lighting display, triggered from an ArKaos GrandVJ media server - would create just the wow factor he needed.
Equally smart had been the club's technical integrator, Frank Murray, who heads locally-based specialists, Audiotek. Murray had purchased the display - shown for the first time, at last September's PLASA Show - straight off the PR Lighting stand, using and demoing it in their nearby Dublin showrooms until Dusk was complete. The display was supplied through the company's UK and Ireland distributors, MilTec (UK) Ltd.
Knowing it would be easy to site, and offer versatile control using ArKaos' layer-mix mode, Murray said, "We are delighted to have been the first company in Europe to have this display. Video has become a big growth area and this product is light-weight, IP-rated and reasonably priced.
"It is performing well beyond our expectations in Coolock, and because it can be used both indoors and out, we already have other orders for it."
The 37.5mm pixel pitch display can be used either as a background lighting effect or as digital signage in an advertising medium, displaying video both synchronously and asynchronously, with 16.7 million colours.
With the help of the V-LED Spell the 800-capacity Dusk has blasted into life following a rapid fit-out programme lasting just seven weeks. And the presence of the LED display has certainly moved the Northside Shopping Centre (on which it is situated) a long way upscale as it begins its own massive redevelopment programme.
