European Welcome for Chauvet Products at Prolight + Sound

Chauvet's introduction of its professional product line to the European market earned high marks among attendees at ProLight + Sound as the company reinforced its commitment to Europe. International sales manager Gerry Zigman said that trade show visitors were thrilled by their products. "There was a lot of excitement and our booth had a constant flow of traffic," he said.

The excitement was due to the European unveiling of the Legend 4500, the Legend 6500 and other professional fixtures. The Legend 4500 is a compact 10- or 14-channel intelligent LED moving yoke wash particularly suited for production, stage and architectural applications, with an output comparable to a 300W discharge wash fixture, and full RGBW mixing capability.

Distinguishing features include adjustable colour temperatures (preset values range from 3,200K to 10,000K), the capability to trigger instant colour changes, discreet operation and a casing design focused on stability and ruggedness.

The unit comes fitted with a total of 54 high power LEDs (720mA red; 1,000mA blue, green and white), and 15° lenses. It produces a long-throw wash of 12,350 Lux at 2m, with a beam angle of 10° and a field angle of 22°.

The Legend 6500 offers stability and ruggedness with a 10- or 14-channel intelligent LED moving yoke wash particularly suited for production, stage and architectural applications, with an output comparable to a 575W discharge fixture and full RGBW mixing capability. Like the Legend 4500, this fixture also offers adjustable colour temperatures (preset values range from 3,200°K to 10,000°K), the capability to trigger instant colour changes and discreet operation.

Another show hit was the versatile COLORado 2, an indoor/outdoor colour wash fixture that is tough enough to withstand the rigors of touring life, can take centre stage in a permanent installation or bathe an architectural feature in warm pastels. This powerful LED fixture expands the successful COLORado series with 48 2W to 3W LEDs including white, for more precise color temperature control. It responds to 3, 4, 5 or 9 channels of DMX control.

Encased in a rugged die cast aluminum body to aid in heat dissipation, this sturdy fixture can take whatever its environment brings - indoors or outdoors - due to its IP66 rating. While this resilient fixture can take it all, it also gives its all with a nearly limitless colour range from rich vivid hues to delicate pastels afforded by RGBW mixing and a brilliant, 12, 350 lux at 2 metres output.

Finally, the new hard edge Q-Spot 150 LED turned out to be a crowd pleaser with its 9- or 11-channel DMX moving yoke that boasts the luminosity of a 150-watt discharge lamp.

This compact, light-weight luminaire comes with an eight-position colour wheel plus white. It also features a seven-position rotating slot-and-lock gobo wheel with a three-facet prism. No need for any tools to change out gobos thanks to a sliding cover positioned over the gobo wheel.

One high-powered 20W LED affords a large and bright throw of 4,180 Lux at 1m and a beam angle of 16?. At just 13.5 pounds (6 kilos), the Q-Spot 150 is suitable for nearly any lighting installation, especially in hard to reach areas where bulb changing can be difficult. LEDs can last for up to 50,000 hours.

According to Zigman, show attendees delighted in the performance and value that Chauvet continues to provide in its product lines. And, the company's commitment to Europe, especially Eastern Europe including the Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania and Poland, continues to grow with quality distributors. "We've recently signed on several new distributors and met a number of new people at the show who will probably become distributors," he said.
