LDDE's Unique LedCyc9* Panels Shine for Rudolf in Vienna

Inspired by the novel ‘A Nervous Splendor' by Frederic Morton, the musical ‘Rudolf' describes the tragic life of Crown Prince Rudolf and his love of Mary Vetsera. The music is by Frank Wildhorn and the book by Jack Murphy. It is the story of a visionary and the central themes are passion, self-denial and the courage of a human being who possessed all the skills of a political thinker but none of the skills to obtain power.
His ideas could have changed the world of the ossifying Habsburg empire, his ardour could have ushered in a new era. But the inflexibility of court life and his adversary, the prime minister Taaffe, prevented any modernisation. In this soul-destroying situation Rudolf met the love of his life, Mary Vetsera. Her attitudes and her refusal to compromise gave him the strength to take the final step - to Mayerling - "united in love until death".
The Hungarian production of the show was premiered in 2006, in Hungarian, at the Operettszinhasz in Budapest and was co-produced by the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien. In the summer of the same year the show was staged at the open air festival in Szeged. The German language version of Rudolf opened in Vienna on 26th February 2009 at the Raimund Theater.
It was directed by the internationally acclaimed, multi-award-winning director David Leveaux. The costumes are the work of the versatile designer Laura Hopkins, the set that of the British stage designer Mike Britton. ‘Moulin Rouge' choreographer John O'Connell was responsible or the choreography. Lighting designer was Patrick Woodroffe with Adam Bassett.
The technical specifications for lighting were clearly defined by Woodroffe. Instead of relying on heavy stage construction, it was decided that a giant cyclorama and several light boxes would form a substantial part of the stage architecture. The back lighting of the stage elements was to be made by PowerLeds in RGB W colour, which would blend very evenly and brightly.
LDDE began with the technical development in August 2008. In a comparison with other LED back light systems less than two months later, the advantages of the LedCyc9* could be seen clearly.
LedCyc9*'s innovative total concept - and a to date unequalled light performance - were ultimately why 380 panels were ordered.
With the LedCyc9* RGBW panel, LDDE has developed a product which set new standards in cyclorama back lighting as well as in the optical organisation of stage Design. The LedCyc9*RGBW panel is a extremely powerful and modular back light system for rear projection on cycloramas or light boxes. The panel is also useful for producing optical effects in a stage designs. A total of nine RGB+W PowerLed Pixel offer an even and flicker-free field of light.
The panel is developed for use in the theatre, entertainment and Film/TV market. Each panel integrates nine powerful RGB+W pixels in a symmetric pattern of 300x300mm distance, and the RGB+W selection makes it easy to generate any colour temperature and specific pastel colour. Utilising the newest generation LED technology, each panel offers an extremely high light output. External Led-Controller or Power supplies are not required as each panel has all on board. The unique mounting system and integrated multicore-system ensures the user a fast build up as well as great optical design in all stage settings.
