Turbosound Fuels New Babylonian Dynasty at Cyprus Superclub

Described as ‘a civilised fusion of electric blue and purple, with intermissions of sexy reds giving a splash of decadence', the new Babylon superclub is bringing a whole new level of nightclub cool to Ayia Napa, Cyprus. And with comments about the audio system on the club's Facebook site like ‘It blew my mind', you know that Babylon's audio system could only be Turbosound.
The installation at 2000-capacity venue was completed in April and it already has a very high profile list of summer DJs lined up, including many Ministry of Sound sessions.
Steve Richards is an internationally renowned DJ who has worked at the heart of many high profile clubs, including The Castle, another of Ayia Napa's highest profile venues. In charge of music management and events at Babylon, Steve and managing director Tasos Kritikos needed a system that would reliably support DJ and dance events, live bands, fashion shows, presentations, private functions and more.
To achieve this, they selected a system comprising 20 Turbosound TA-500DP self-powered Aspect Wide and four TCS-122 mid/high loudspeakers, with 12 TSW-218DP self-powered subs. Supplied by Turbosound's Cyprus distributor Yannis Theodoulou of C. Theodoulou & Sons, the installation was overseen by Turbosound applications engineer Dan Orton.
"The versatility of the venue was a key issue," says Dan. "Babylon is a large room with alcoves and a lot of flat surfaces. Delivering seamless coverage and high audio quality were vital, but it had to be able to successfully deliver a wide range of music and speech styles to those high standards. It's not just about filling a room with extreme high and low frequencies."
The system has already proved very successful, with Steve Richards commenting, "Personally, I believe it's the finest sound system I've played on the world over. Everyone is very happy, we've had excellent comments from guest DJ's, tour managers, staff and our customers are very pleased."
