Vienna's Ronacher and Raimund Theatres Standardise on Lab.gruppen
With a long and colourful history to its name, today the Ronacher Theatre is one of the two leading music venues in the Austrian capital of Vienna, the other being the Raimund Theatre. Owned by theatre production company, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, both venues are historical and cultural landmarks of the Viennese landscape. Following recent upgrades to the sound system, these prestigious theatres have now standardised on Lab.gruppen's dedicated installation C Series amplifiers.
According to Erich Hofbauer of ATEC Pro Audio, the exclusive Lab.gruppen distributer in Austria, a number of powerful four-channel Lab.gruppen C 48:4s were put through their paces on the musical "Rebecca" at the Raimund Theatre last year, driving the in-house high-efficiency coaxial APG Micro Axial FoH system. The reaction was extremely positive, and so the production company decided to invest in Lab.gruppen. The musical, which is currently running at the Ronacher is Spring Awakening, a Tony Award-winning rock musical based on the controversial 1891 German play of the same name by Frank Wedekind. The show is powered exclusively by Lab.gruppen C 48.4 amplifiers.
"Vereinigte Bühnen Wien now owns some 35 Lab.gruppen C 48:4 amplifiers, including the most recent investment of 11 units destined for use on the upcoming production of "Dance of the Vampires"", explained Hofbauer. "They decided on C 48:4s for a number of reasons; firstly, they have demonstrated irreproachable reliability during long-term use, which was possibly the most important criterion for the production company's sound designers. Secondly, the sonic performance of these units is impeccable, and they have proved themselves to be perfect partners for the passive APG Micro Axial and the passive Meyer MM4 miniature loudspeakers that were already in place. Last but not least, the relationship that they have with ATEC Pro Audio was definitely a determining factor. They know they can rely on us for excellent technical support, and they trust us when we tell them that a product is good!"
"We were very confident when we proposed the Lab.gruppen C 48:4 amplifiers, and the client has not been disappointed," continued Hofbauer. "In fact, they even decided to standardise on the units throughout both venues for compatibility reasons, so it's been a real success story for Lab.gruppen in Vienna!"
