Litestructures Rewarded with Innovation in Business Award 2009

Last Thursday (16th July), at the Wakefield district business awards, Litestructures was awarded The Innovation in Business Award 2009. The first Wakefield District Business Awards celebrate the individuals and companies who are helping to make the District one of the most dynamic in the region.

Adrian Brooks, managing director of Litestructures comments: "We are obviously delighted to win and gain recognition for our innovation. We feel that it was well deserved because as a company, we continually strive to move forward and develop new products and ideas."

Adrian invented the worlds' first aluminium truss system, AstraLite. Since then, many followed: LiteDeck is now the industry standard staging system, the Litestructures rehearsal arena is the only facility of its kind in Europe, DigiTruss, LiteSwitch are exciting new lighting developments. Last but not least, the Backstage Academy is well on its way to training the backstage crew of the future.

Pioneering is exciting, but difficult. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but having your products, which have taken skills, time and money to develop, blatantly copied can be disheartening, but innovation is key to our future success. Adrian adds: "Acknowledgement should go to our many customers as they are the people that bring the ideas from which innovation is driven."

Guest speaker Larry Hirst, the Yorkshire-born Chief Executive of IBM Europe and Middle East told Litestructures that: "The art of invention is taking some money and making something, the art of innovation is taking something and making some money".
