ETC Equipment for Denmark's Aalborg Congress & Culture Centre
Aalborghallen, part of the Aalborg Congress & Culture Centre - a multi-purpose conference venue in the Northern Jutland region of Denmark - has taken delivery of a range of ETC dimming and control equipment following a refitting at the end of last year.
Søren Jørgensen, sales director at ETC's Danish dealer Bico says: "The venue had a short time period in which to swap out its old equipment and install the new, which consisted of an Eos control desk, remote focus unit (RFU) and three racks of Sensor dimming. In all, we installed 280 ways of dimming and four gateways around the building.
"We only had six weeks from getting the request for quotation to completing the installation and training the staff. But because the venue's previous desk was an ETC Expression, which uses the same style of programming syntax, the technical staff quickly got the hang of their new system."
As part of the first stage of the venue's improvement programme, Bico also installed an ETC Unison system for the house lights, allowing technicians close control of the lighting, depending on whether they want to minimise or maximise the space available.
Aalborghallen claims to be one of the most flexible conference centres in Denmark. Its 600 sq m stage is an exact replica of the main stage at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen, making it one of the two largest stages in Denmark.
Meanwhile, at the Danish National School of Theatre (Statens Teaterskole) in Copenhagen, Bico was responsible for exchanging an old ETC Emphasis system for a new Ion. Søren explains: "The Emphasis was not so easy to use and teach, and was becoming increasingly difficult to source spare parts for - so more often than not, it wasn't being used. "We have provided the school with comprehensive training and now the four lighting students will easily be able to operate the lighting for productions."
The Danish National School of Theatre is the principal school of dramatic art in Denmark. Its 120 students are offered a range of technical light and sound courses as well as acting, directing and stage management.
