RIBA Approved CPD Dance Floor Seminars Presented by British Harlequin

British Harlequin plc has announced that the company is now approved to offer RIBA core curriculum CPD seminars on the subject of ‘Specifying Floors for Dance, Drama and Performance'.

Designed for architects, the seminars explain the importance of dancers' performance and safety requirements when specifying suitable floors and how these requirements differ from floors designed for sport, or from standard wood floors that may seem otherwise attractive for aesthetic reasons. The seminar explains the evolution of floors for dance and the performing arts over the past 30 years and stresses the importance of consultation with the end customer to ensure the correct specification of not only the sprung dance floor, but also the performance surface.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) obligations exist to help ensure that qualified professionals maintain their competence to practise and the British Harlequin seminar is endorsed by the Royal Institute of British Architects. CPD is for consumer protection and a way of ensuring that architects keep up-to-date within a rapidly changing profession, being required to complete 35 hours a year of CPD. The Harlequin CPD programme is classified under ‘Construction Skills' for ‘Specification and choosing materials'.

In addition to the CPD seminar programme, which is supported by a package of reference material, Harlequin also publish a free guide to assist architects specifying dance floors. This can be requested online, or by calling Harlequin on 01892 514888. Resources for architects can be accessed through the ‘Architects' Area' of the company web site at www.harlequinfloors.com/uk/architects-area.html. These include the facility to download product data sheets, a direct link to specification clauses online at www.NBSPlus.co.uk, as well as being able view examples of projects and case studies.

Architectural practices interested in receiving a CPD seminar to gain general awareness on the subject of ‘specifying floors for dance, drama and performance' should contact British Harlequin on 01892 514888 email cpd@harlequinfloors.com
