Vortex Lighting Invests in grandMA2
Vortex Lighting, the busy rental house based in the north-east of England, has invested in its first MA2 console. This follows on after several years of hard work - and satisfaction - from its grandMA ‘series 1' products.
Vortex's Graeme Sewell bought the grandMA2 light because he wanted to upgrade the company's original grandMA light - complete with serial number 2 and the first one available in the UK - which is still in constant and active use many years down the line. He has been so happy with the grandMA ‘series 1' that it was a "logical progression" to go on to the grandMA2.
"The 100 per cent reliability" of the grandMA light was another reason convincing him to buy the grandMA2 light. Vortex undertakes a lot of dry hire work in addition to servicing its own shows and productions, so having rock-solid kit to hand is an absolute key to success in this market. He adds that it was also by far the "Most powerful" of any other console in the same price bracket.
In addition to the original grandMA light, Vortex also has a grandMA ultra-light, and at the end of 2008 they purchased their first grandMA full-size ‘series 1', on which Sewell comments: "I love it to bits!"
With a constant demand, the consoles are all proving to be high value rental items underlining the investment for Vortex. Apart from the reliability factor, the general stability of the MA Lighting control platform, the seamless networking and the massively flexible raft of features and functionality across the consoles range all really impress Sewell - together with the great service and support from MA Lighting UK.
Sewell concludes: "I was very proud to have the first grandMA in the UK and equally so to have one of the first grandMA2 lights."
As well as Sewell himself, all the Vortex freelance and programmers, operators and engineers also enjoy working with MA products.
The new grandMA2 light went straight out on a gig at Durham College headlined by popular indie band The Zutons, and other events have included the National Osteoporosis Society's conference and gala ball at the Midland Hotel in Manchester.
