Hands on with PRG Distribution at PLASA

PLASA 2009 is all about hands on as PRG Distribution gets ready to provide visitors with the opportunity to interact with an array of new products from all of its manufacturing partners:
The VLX from Philips Vari-Lite is set to shift LED lighting into high gear with its pure, bright beam with 630 watts of LED's yielding three times the lumen efficiency of equivalent tungsten sources. Alongside the VLX, the new Vari*Lite VL3500FX, VL3500 Q Spot and VL500CD will be on show for visitors to see and try.
From Seachanger will be the CYMG colour changers for Source Four Ellipsodials. The Nemo is a solid-state, energy efficient unit with an LIFI plasma source that reduces consumption and heat load offering up to 15,000 hours of lamp life. The Colourbug, also from Seachanger, is an ingenious handheld sensor for testing colour and luminosity - perfect for Lighting Designer's on the move.
Pathway will be showing three new versions of Pathport nodes, plus new configuration software. The Pathport eDIN is ideal for the system integrator looking for a compact DIN-rail mountable Ethernet node, able to provide a customized DMX universe right where it's needed - increasingly important for planning LED arrays.
Pathport TE (Touring Edition) fills a need in the rental and touring markets for a robust one-port node. Sporting an IP54 rating and a battery-powered user interface, all input and output parameters are easily configured using just three buttons. DMX and RDM testing tools are included.
Pathport Octo is the lowest cost-per-port Pathport. The Octo provides eight inputs or outputs, or any combination in between, with all the features and flexibility Pathports are renowned for. You can even receive different Ethernet protocols and merge them into the same output!
Pathport Manager 5 is the latest release of network management software and provides complete control over parameter presentation, as well as reliable configuration and firmware upgrading. Java-based, it runs on all major operating systems.
New from Lycian is the 1273 followspot, a 2500 watt version of the 1271 Starklite. It's compact, with a choice of short, medium and long lens options. Rather than utilise a slide-on chassis like the M2, the 1273 lens screws directly onto the body and takes a 2500 watt HTI from Osram.
Powered by Gekko's kleer colour light engine, kedo uses a multi-channel, high efficacy LED array which can be tuned locally and remotely by DMX to produce millions of different colours and critically, a range of high quality whites.
Nila won the best debuting new product at LDI08 and their truly innovative LED lighting system utilising both Tungsten and Daylight colour temperature LED's will also be on show as a tectile display.
PRG's Gobo Resources will be on-hand. It provides a West London based rapid service for all gobo needs - from custom to catalogue designs. Gobo Resources has licensed access to the image libraries of Vari-Lite, Rosco and Goboland, with a standard lead time of three days or even a few hours for those urgent calls.
PRG Distribution are on stands R28, S24 and S28.
