Matt-LX Launch Industry Focused Manual Handling Course

Committed to providing top quality customer service, support and the development of skills and safety within our industry, lighting and technical production specialist Matt-LX have launched a Manual Handling course specifically developed for those in the theatre and event Industry.

Developed in association with Birmingham Repertory Theatre, the training covers key aspects of safe handling, legal responsibility, human factors, risk assessment and safe systems of work. Carried out in the workplace the course is relevant to all departments, from stage crew and wardrobe to ticket sales and marketing.

"If we are lucky enough not to have those progressively regular little aches and pains ourselves, we all know somebody who is affected by a handling related injury. With 41% of work related injuries in this country being put down to poor manual handling and the catastrophic effect these injuries can have on the individual and the organisation, we decided it was time an industry-specific course was available to support our greatest asset - our people. So we designed one," says training manager Rob Clutterham. "Many courses available are designed around other industries and not focused on either the operational parameters of a performance venue or the diverse nature of what we do in the entertainment world."

Matt-LX Ltd is owned and operated by experienced industry professionals, specialising in technical production and the management of Health & Safety for theatre and live events. The Matt-LX Manual Handling course is a cost effective solution that follows the current HSE guidelines, designed for our industry, tailored to each employer's needs and specific workplace issues, and delivered by a City & Guilds qualified trainer.

The training is relevant to all employees, technical, box office, front of house, sales, admin, marketing, catering, wardrobe and management - with up to 15 persons accommodated at each three to four hour session.
