Danley Genesis Horns Rival the Roar of Jets at Singapore Airshow
Against the bone-quaking roar of F-16 fighter jets, Danley's Genesis Horns (GH-60s) not only provided adequate volume and coverage at the recent Singapore Airshow on February 2-6, they did so with clarity that was closer to that of studio reference monitors than to the tinny barking of typical high-volume public address systems.
Noted Gerard Rodriquez, managing director, Expo AV-Insync Pte. Ltd., the A/V company that handled the show: "The system worked well at all levels, whether you were on the ground or at the commentary towers which were located six stories above the crowds. The sound was unbelievably amazing. For instance, if you walked away from the speaker towers with your back facing them, you could actually feel as though you had a pair of studio monitors by your side. The sound quality was crisp, and the sound levels and clarity were almost equal no matter where you stood between the towers. In fact, we were asked to pull them back a bit as members of the press located in a building some one hundred meters away were rocking a little harder than they needed to.
Danley's Genesis Horn incorporates three pending patents - The Synergy Horn, Paraline, and Shaded Amplitude Lens. The box houses a total of 18 drivers utilising 21 horizontal 20° downward vanes that provide even front-to-back coverage (line array performance) from a single point source.
Due to the Shaded Amplitude Lens, the GH-60 has 16 dB of gain on the furthest listener's axis and all 45° of the vertical coverage is useable. "This technology made possible by the Synergy Horn has lead the way to the demise of line array," concluded Mike Hedden, president of Danley Sound Labs.
