Orbital Sound's Broadcast Communications Portfolio for BVE 2010

Orbital Sound is exhibiting a comprehensive selection of communication solutions on stand B8 at Broadcast Video Expo 2010 (16-18 February, Earls Court 2, London). As a leading provider of system design, sales and rental services to the broadcast industry, Orbital is showing leading products from HM Electronics, Zaxcom, Telex and RTS. Orbital has also recently announced its appointment as a UK dealer for Roland RSS. Already the leading dealership for Yamaha and Digidesign digital mixing consoles, this appointment extends Orbital's portfolio to encompass the most comprehensive selection of digital mixing and digital multicore solutions, across all applications and budgets.
Following its launch at BVE last year, the DX121 One-to-One Digital Wireless Intercom system from HM Electronics (HME) has proved extremely popular for studio and OB applications. Providing flexible wireless connectivity for studio or OB environments, the DX121 plugs into a standard intercom station or belt-pack headset jack, or can be connected to a matrix intercom system via its four-wire interface. It enables wireless intercom links to be established quickly and easily, extending an operator's range by up to 300 metres. An assignable relay closure offers further versatility, allowing the appropriate matrix channel to be selected from a belt-pack. A single DX121 can support up to four HME remote Communicator Beltpac or Headsets, while the system's FHSS Spectrum Friendly technology offers partial-band selection, enabling up to eight DX121 wireless intercoms to be used simultaneously for multi-channel applications. The DX121 can be packaged with any of HME's remote communicators, such as the BP200 Beltpac, the WH200 All-In-One Wireless Headset, or the WS200 Wireless Speaker Station. In addition to the DX121, Orbital is also showing HME's DX300, DX200 and DX100 digital wireless intercom systems, including the all-weather IP67-rated DX300 base station. Orbital is the exclusive UK distributor for HME's entertainment-sector products.
From Zaxcom, Orbital is majoring on the tiny TRX900 digital wireless microphone system, the industry's first digital wireless microphone transceiver with built-in IFB facility. Designed for production studios and control room operations, as well as for live-event crews, the compact DX121 system comprises a BS121 base station and a charger for a BAT41 battery pack, offering maximum flexibility together with an in-built back-up recording capability. Capable of stereo operation, the TRX900 transmitter is accompanied by the integral IFB receiver and, with an optional IFB remote control transmitter, adjustments can be made to parameters such as body-pack audio gain, high-pass filter settings and RF channel selection, even while transmitting. The optional recording module enables up to six hours of two-channel, time-coded storage, with the IFB transmitter offering time code synchronisation. Zaxcom's TRX900 can be deployed in multi-channel systems, with the time-coded recordings synchronised across the whole system, and with the choice of BWF or MP3 time-code stamped files. The TRX900 is designed for operation between 518 and 870MHz, and can be supplied with either a CR123 or twin-AA batteries. Other Zaxcom products include the Deva range of hard disk and Flash media recording and mixing systems.
Also on show are the Telex Communications' BTR intercom systems, including the BTR-800 two-channel UHF frequency-agile wireless intercom system, and the BTR-700 single-channel base station. These products are complemented by the RTS brand from Telex Communications, which is renowned as one of the widest ranges of hardwired and wireless intercommunications products, and is based on 40 years' experience of the broadcast sector. Products include the ADAM, ADAM-CS and ZEUS Digital Matrix Intercom Systems, which represent the state-of-the-art of scalable intercom design and offer the capacity to handle up to 1,000 users.
