UK\'S Event Sound Joins Line Array Division

Berkshire-based sound rental company Event Sound has joined the elite ranks of UK mid-format line-array providers, with its purchase of an Electro-Voice XLC system from Shuttlesound.

The upgrade of an inventory which has included two generations of Electro-Voice PA products signals the serious intentions of Event Sound's owners Nick Billinghurst and Jason Spencer, who are now committed full-time to building the high-end rental operation, and adding a sales and installation dimension to the company.

Shuttlesound will supply Event Sound with 18 XLC 127DVX modules with eight Xsubs, and a stock of new Tour Grade amplifiers, which are fitted with RCM26 remote control modules, providing the full complement of IIR filters, signal routing, level control, compression and limiting, and FIR-Drive processing to provide the ultimate in loudspeaker optimization.

"They have big plans and they're prepared to work hard," says Shuttlesound's Dave Finlay. "Buying into the XLC system design maximises their commercial opportunities. Standalone, the XLC + Xsub rig can hande medium-sized festivals and substantial indoor concerts, and, because it's also a suitable supplementary system, Event Sound may be able to partner with UK EV X-Line users such as Britannia Row as well as other XLC rental houses."

Nick Billinghurst was quick to praise his supplier Shuttlesound for their support. "I've used the EV brand since the 1990s, renting out EV1810s and lately the Phoenix, and we've completed installations with most of the smaller compact loudspeakers like RX, EVID and ZX. It's great to deal direct with Electro-Voice and Shuttlesound, and to enjoy the advantages of their back-up."

Shuttlesound's Neal Allen joins the Event Sound team in their Slough base to provide full training on the XLC system and TG amplifiers, and, although Nick Billinghurst is playing his cards close to his chest, it seems likely that the system will debut on a festival headlined by a very well-known UK band who have filled stadia worldwide.
