ETC\'s Selador LED fixtures Draw Visitors to Prolight Stand

ETC's stand at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt this year saw a huge influx of visitors all looking for demonstrations of the company's latest products. Top of many people's wish list was a viewing of Selador Vivid Ice, one of two new Selador LED fixtures which were released just a few weeks ago. A Vivid Ice, which provides a palette of brilliant deep indigo, blue, cyan, green (and a touch of red), was set up beside a 575W PAR luminaire fitted with a Roscolux 80 Primary Blue gel, in order to compare brightness and accuracy of colour. Visitors were overwhelmingly impressed by the results: the LED fixture was proven to be nearly 15 times as bright as the PAR.

Meanwhile, beside the Vivid Ice, a Vivid Fire - the other of the two new fixtures, which features a warm wash of saturated reds, oranges and ambers - was set up next to a Rosco 026 gelled PAR for comparison. In a typical colour application, Fire and Ice fixtures produce more light and consume less than 70 Watts of power compared to their gelled tungsten counterparts at 575 Watts.

Europe promotions and advertising manager Rosi Marx says: "Many visitors to the stand told us they'd heard a lot about Selador Series and wanted to see it for themselves. The stand was busy the whole time, often with people crowding around equipment to see it.

"This year, as well as having Selador on display, we chose to focus on our desks' abilities and strengths in live events. We set up a Congo jr and an Ion desk, controlling fixtures from various manufacturers live on the stand. Congo's software was specifically designed with live production in mind, including concert touring, while the Eos family - which includes Ion and Element - was designed for theatrical-style programming and operation following long discussions with users throughout the industry. Visitors were given demonstrations of how quickly the desks can create and output complex scenes both in advance and on the fly.

"Unfortunately, poor signage meant that many people found it hard to find the new Hall 11, where we were located, but once they arrived they were rewarded for their perseverance as our stand became a networking point for many members of the industry!"

Also on ETC's Prolight stand were the newest additions to the company's range of portable dimming products, SmartModule 2 - which is available later this month - and SmartBar 2. Both are designed to offer out-of-the-box dimming solutions and can be used wherever and whenever specific performances demand flexibility within a lighting system. Both dimming products are self-contained, with on-board processing, local and remote control and a choice between CEE 16A, Schuko, NF (French) and UK15A output connectors. Both SmartBar2 and SmartModule 2 feature the latest DMX512A protocol with RDM (Remote Device Management) talkback.
