Studiomaster Expands Presence with New Product Lines at Prolight + Sound

The resurgence of the world famous Studiomaster professional audio brand continues with new product lines, offering exceptional levels of quality, performance and affordability, being launched at Prolight + Sound, where the company has doubled its stand space this year. The new products include portable PA, compact sound installation, PA and line array systems. Also being launched is a new multi-pattern tube condenser microphone, a first entry for Studiomaster into the professional recording microphone market.

Portable PA is a traditional Studiomaster product sector where it enjoys a long history of product innovation, especially in compact and powered mixer systems. The company is launching the new Stagesound series at Prolight + Sound, a modern, high quality, powered mixer and 2-way cabinet portable PA series. Two models, the Stagesound 8 with a 6-input, 2 x 100 watt powered mixer and 8 inch speaker cabinets, and the Stagesound 10, offering an 8-input, 2 x 200 watt mixer amp and 10 inch speaker cabinets, are being shown. Setting a new standard in easy of use compact PA, system portability is optimised with storage of the mixer in a rear well in one cabinet and the cables in the other; the mixer can be operated while located in the storage well. Cabinets and mixer can be tabletop or stand mounted, with optional dedicated speaker and mixer stands. The Stagesound mixers feature two switchable mic/line and two stereo inputs (Stagesound 8) or four switchable mic/line and two stereo inputs (Stagesound 10) - with mic/line inputs on XLR or phono, and stereo inputs on jack and phono connectors - for flexible connectivity. Onboard DSP FX - with 15 effects - for the mic channels, 2-band EQ on each input channel, and monitor and record outputs provide exceptional power and flexibility in such a compact mixer.

CTR series is a comprehensive range of passive cabinets designed to fulfil a wide range of commercial audio applications in bars, restaurants, small to medium clubs and music rooms, conference and congress facilities. Suitable for both speech and music applications, the range comprises compact 2-way designs, wide dispersion compact array configurations, and four dual concentric designs featuring six, eight, ten and twelve inch drivers.

All six models are supplied with wall mounting brackets and, with the exception of the CTR105 2-way model, all varients are finished in durable white paint with tough metal speaker grilles and industry standard 4-pole connectors; the CTR105 features a self coloured injection moulded cabinet and has quick release connectors. It also comes in 70 and 100V line versions as well as the standard 8ohm variant.

The new JX series features both active and passive high quality PA cabinets of various configurations, enabling quick and easy installation of high signal power handling sound reinforcement in all manner of performance and playback environments. The 14 different models - seven active and seven passive - all incorporate a driver design featuring a new magnet configuration to greatly reduce distortion at high power levels. Constant directivity horns with a 90ºx60º dispersion pattern can be rotated to match the cabinet orientation. The active models integrate high reliability bi-polar amp designs - rated at 800 watts rms in the 2x12" and 2x15" models - 3-band EQ and an 80Hz high band pass filter on the hi-mid cabs, for improved intelligibility in voice applications. Subs and twin driver models employ a fan assisted cooling system for long term operational reliability. The cabinets are finished in tough scuff resistant paint with sturdy steel speaker grilles.

The Studiomaster A6 series marks the company's entry into the line array market, with a uniquely affordable, compact, self powered design, enabling smaller and medium sized venues, hire companies and commercial installations to employ the high SPL, signal clarity and dispersion characteristics of a line array system more widely then ever before.

A modular system - with each ‘module' comprising an A6-212SA bass unit, housing the 1x800w and 2x400w amplifiers, and two A6-206-4 hi/mid cabinets - the system can be floor sited or flown, with flying points (adjustable on the A6-206-4) fitted on both cabs. The A6-212SA features two 12' ultra LF drivers driven by the 800w amp, with each hi/mid cab being separately driven by a 400w amp. A pre-set electronic crossover ensures optimal system performance with all types of program material. All amplifiers have dedicated level controls, bargraph displays and limiters; signal connection is via male and female XLRs. The A6-206-4 is fitted with 2 x 6.5" custom drivers and a single 44mm throat compression driver.

The KM150V tube multi-pattern condenser is Studiomaster's first ever professional recording microphone, but with over 30 years experience in designing mixing desks and pre-amps the company knows a thing or two about what makes a great mic. For its first model Studiomaster has opted for a classic valve deign, featuring a one inch pressure gradient gold spattered dual diaphragm coupled to a selected low noise tube. Switchable polar patterns - between omni, cardioid or bi-directional (figure eight) operation - provide far greater versatility than other fixed pattern affordable tube designs; a switchable hi-pass filter and 10dB attenuator further aid this flexibility. An external power supply is provided for the tube preamp, giving exceptional signal to noise performance. The microphone is supplied with suspension mount, windscreen, power supply, 7pin mic cable, light weight carry case.

The company is also showing its established Fusion ‘entertainment console' and VMS products, along with the full range of Studiomaster powered and passive mixing consoles, power amplifiers, signal processors and accessories.

Commenting on the new product line-up for Prolight + Sound 2010, Patrick Almond, Studiomaster brand manager, stated: "This line up of exciting new products plays to our traditional strengths in small medium and portable PA, and extends our portfolio into new areas with the A6 line array and KM150V tube mic. In both instances we are reinforcing our market position based on the traditional Studiomaster values of innovation, proven reliability and unbeatable value for money. This is only the second Prolight + Sound exhibition for the new company, but our stand is twice the size of last year's and we are well on course to re-establishing the Studiomaster brand as a major force in the MI, pro audio and commercial audio sectors."
