AVnu Alliance To Host Public Discussion Panel, Members Demonstrate Multi-vendor System At PLASA 2010
The AVnu Alliance, founded to promote the adoption of the IEEE 802.1 Audio/Video Bridging (AVB) standards, will continue its first birthday celebrations at the PLASA 2010 show in London, UK. The alliance was founded in mid-2009 and has since quadrupled in size. Recent membership announcements include Biamp, Bosch, Molex, Peavey and XMOS. To celebrate the incredible momentum it has achieved, the AVnu Alliance will host a panel discussion at the PLASA show in London, UK.
The panel discussion, open to the public, will be entitled IEEE 802.1 Audio/Video Bridging (AVB): The Future of Standards-Based A/V Networking. The panel, comprised representatives from alliance member companies, will explore the role of the AVB Standards in the professional A/V industry, as well as consumer electronics and automotive applications. An in-depth explanation of AVB and related IEEE standards will be presented, followed by a discussion of the advantages of an open non-proprietary technology, the role of silicon makers to ensure a cost-effective solution, and the critical role a compliance program will play to ensure interoperability of AVB devices. The panel will be chaired by Dan Goldstein, Press Officer for Integrated Systems Europe. The desire of the A/V industry to move towards a standards-based solution, as represented by the unprecedented gathering of these companies alone means the event is a must for any PLASA attendee interested in the future of media networking. The panel discussion will take place on Monday, September 13th between 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm in the Marlborough Room, Earls Court 1. AVnu Alliance member companies Avid, Harman and Marvell will also demonstrate AVB-enabled technologies operating on a single network. At the Avid stand a Crown amplifier will be demonstrated receiving AVB audio from an Avid console through a Marvell switch.
