The Black Keys, aka Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, have had a big underground following for over a decade but with the success of 2010’s Grammy awarded Brothers and last year’s wildly successful El Camino, they’re in the midst of their first headlining arena tour across the globe. The tour is also the first time the Black Keys have had the luxury of carrying their own production gear, which includes a DiGiCo SD10 for FOH and an SD8 at monitors, specified by long time engineer Jason Tarulli and provided by Eighth Day Sound. The console’s flexibility and fidelity have given Tarulli and monitor engineer Fabian Quiroga a much-desired consistency from gig to gig.

When Russian artist Dashi Namdakov wanted an air of mystery for the unveiling of his celebrated statue, MTFX was on hand to provide the effect. The five metre statue was covered by a thick black shroud that held an enveloping fog cloud. When the veil was removed, the fog gently dissipated to unveil Genghis Khan seated pensively on his horse. The figure celebrated 850 years since the legendary warrior was born, and the artist wanted to portray his spirituality as part of the London City of Sculpture festival.

A to V’s 4D Projection Makes History with Christie

Not even the rain could dampen the enthusiasm at the Royal Armouries as PLASA Focus: Leeds 2012 opened its doors for two days of access to the latest products on the market for the live entertainment industry from 17-18 April. Visitor numbers reached a record-breaking 2122 - an increase of 8.5% on 2011. Impact, the trade distribution company for sound, lighting and staging, has opened six new UK branches to cope with countrywide demand for the brands it represents. The new branches, in Park Royal (north London), Belvedere (south London), Glasgow, Edinburgh, Preston and Poole, were rolled out in quick succession from late 2011, allowing Impact, headquartered in Northampton, to easily cover the entire country.

Black Light has helped commission the lighting for Bradford’s City Park, the UK’s largest urban water feature. The Park was designed by Gillespies and Arup on behalf of Bradford Council and was officially opened in March. It features a 4,000sq.m mirror pool and the UK's tallest urban fountain which reaches a spectacular 100ft. A wide range of lighting elements has been incorporated into the development to deliver a ‘playful’ night-time environment and to also aid navigation around the park.
