Eidim Audio Visual installs Adamson for Korea Installation

Eidim Audio Visual, with headquarters in Buena Park, California, two handfuls of offices in major cities around the US, and a division in Seoul in Korea, has finished a major installation project at a newly built church in Seoul. The Kwang Mying Church's new complex features five floors with the main sanctuary seating 5500 worshippers in the basement level, and three worship halls, lobby and a dining room on the main three floors, and a small chapel on the 4th.

As well as giant screen relays of the matches, the Fanzones laid on a wide variety of entertainment. With good quality audio a prerequisite for such an event, a Coda Audio PA system was specified for one of the zone’s main stages.

One of the largest MIDAS console networks ever constructed helped the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert entertain the world this month. Front of House engineer Josh Lloyd, of live audio specialists Britannia Row, specified a substantial network comprising two Midas PRO9 and one Midas PRO2C consoles front of house - and XL8, PRO9 and PRO6 consoles in monitor land. In addition to this, Lloyd employed 14 Midas DL431 digital mic splitters to take care of a whopping 96 channels of house band plus 96 orchestra channels.

The first ever Mayday music festival in history took place on 14 December 1991 in Berlin (Halle Weissensee). The event was organized to help out the GDR radio station DT64 (today MDR Sputnik), which was on the verge of bankruptcy. From this initial aid event, the festival has gradually transformed into the largest indoor rave party in Germany, with about 20,000 to 25,000 participants each year. It has now entered its 21st year and Mayday has lost none of its appeal. Thousands of ravers were therefore again able to celebrate their music in 2012 in Dortmund (Westfalenhalle).

Parc Eirias is a newly developed £6.5m multi-purpose venue for community, cultural and sporting events in Colwyn Bay, North Wales. Opened in November 2011, Parc Eirias is a cornerstone of the regeneration plans for the area. The large indoor centre includes conference and classroom facilities for business and commerce events, an indoor training ground, gym, high performance sports analysis facilities and an international standard pitch. The site incorporates two grandstands offering covered seating for up to 2580 people and terracing for a further 3500, a hi-tech TV broadcast room, two commentator boxes and nine multi-purpose units which are used for conferencing and hospitality on match days. The venue recently put on its first major events, hosting the Six Nations under 20’s tournament home matches and the Olympic torch relay celebrations.

ABTT awards to d&b

To be gifted the award for Sound Product of the Year at ABTT 2012 is not something d&b audiotechnik takes lightly. The new V-Series line array was launched barely three months earlier so to achieve recognition this early in its life is praise indeed. Development was led by Matthias Christner and Werner ‘Vier’ Bayer; the R&D department focused upon a medium sized line array based around 10" drivers for the LF section. "We wanted to create a system that combined powerful delivery with typical d&b sound, but in a smaller package," said Christner. The system comprises V8 and V12 loudspeakers with its own cardioid V subwoofer, and mimics its larger cousin the J-Series in coverage and sound characteristics while delivering 139 dB SPL from the full range cabinets.

APG Brings Château du Rivau to Life

The Château du Rivau in the Loire Valley is said to be one of the most important medieval monuments of the Touraine region of France. With its majestic keep, protective drawbridge and picturesque towers, the Château du Rivau looks as if it has come straight out of a fairytale. In 1992, when the chateau was in danger of falling into ruin, the current owners undertook a massive restoration campaign to restore Rivau to its former glory. This also included the magnificent gardens and the legendary stables where medieval warhorses were bred and raised, and where Joan of Arc herself came to fetch horses in 1429, and which later became the Royal Stables of Francois I. One of the finishing touches of the restoration was to install a high quality yet physically discreet distributed sound system from APG throughout the chateau in order to bring the interior to life.
