The opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games saw the main stadium transformed into a huge array of LED video pixels, mapped to the space inhabited by the entire audience. Developed by Tait Technologies, the pixel tablet has become the latest product to emerge from the expanding range of Tait’s available rental systems. Producing over 70,500 pixel tablets for the entire stadium seating grid saw video emerge from its two dimensional world to become 3D; the audience members integrated into the show itself.

Dóm Square in Szeged, Hungary, (literally, Cathedral Square) is one of the largest squares in Hungary. Every year its 12,000 square metres of open space are transformed into a massive 4000-seat auditorium to host the Szeged Open-Air festival. With a tradition stretching back over 75 years, the festival is Hungary’s largest open-air theatre and music event and the most visited summer cultural event of the region. The unique nature of the festival with its stunning backdrop of the Szeged cathedral is enhanced by a flamboyant program of world premieres and internationally ranked stage shows and concerts, and every year, the stakes are higher in the quest for technological perfection and flawless sound. This year, ES Audio’s Sandor Elek who has been managing audio for the festival for the last 12 years via his rental company, Votec, decided to raise the bar even higher and opted for a combination of his own loudspeaker system with Innovason digital mixing consoles and digital microphones from Neumann.

Since last year, the municipality of Ertingen in the district of Biberach has been enjoying the benefits of a new cultural and sports hall, which, thanks its unusual architecture, is suitable for a very wide variety of events. Both the geometry of the rooms and their facilities are designed for multiple uses: club and corporate gatherings, conferences, celebrations, balls, theatrical productions, and concerts. Musik Markt Bad Saulgau, under the direction of its proprietor Alfons Müller, was the company charged with the planning and installation of the audio system. After conducting numerous comparative tests, the company opted for an EVA line-array system from Electro-Voice.
