Showtech Sharpens Profile with New Subtitle and Focus on New Visitor Groups

Showtech is known as the "world forum for the stage", but it is really much more than that. This is why the long-established trade show which has been held in Berlin every two years since 1984 has now been given a new subtitle. As the "International Trade Show and Conference for Theatre, Film and Events", Showtech 2013 will be held in Halls 1 to 4 of the Berlin Exhibition Centre from 18 to 20 June.

"With the new subtitle we want to indicate more precisely what Showtech has to offer," says Showtech event director Markus Jessberger who also wants to sharpen Showtech’s profile with this measure. "The trade show has been an international market leader in stage technology for more than 25 years; this is well known. What is less known is in how many ways Showtech touches on other fields as well – that is what we want to emphasise with the new subtitle ’International Trade Show and Conference for Theatre, Film and Events’." The new products and product improvements presented by exhibitors from the fields of professional lighting technology, audio and media technology, equipment and décor are not only of interest to technical managers and creative specialists from theatres and opera houses. For some time, Showtech has also attracted visitors from the film and television, event and festival segments.

In 2013, Showtech will also expand on its training and further education side. Markus Jessberger explains: "In 2011 in particular, we registered a strong response to the conferences, seminars and forum on a diverse range of themes which ranged from lighting technology to energy efficiency and the latest in wireless microphone technology through to costume design. Professionals come to Showtech for information." As a result, the theme and discussion forums remain an integral part of the trade show and are to be further expanded.

The first piece of news has already been announced one year before start of the trade show: Planning is already going ahead for the DTHG Forum and the Costume Makers’ Symposium. The Safety Action Stage will also be there again, a new feature is the Safety Pavilion, an associated exhibition segment. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) has already given the go-ahead for another exhibition segment, the BMWi Pavilion, which supports young innovative companies participating in leading international trade shows.

There is another reason for the Showtech director to be particularly pleased: "At this stage, more than 70 percent of the show exhibit space for 2013 has already been booked." More than 350 international exhibitors from the fields of stage technology, lighting technology, audio technology, safety, equipment, media technology and infrastructure are expected.

Showtech has also adapted its online presentation to the new subtitle. The new trade show website www.showtech.de presents all the information on exhibitors and trade show segments, clearly structured according to the different visitor groups. One year before the start of the trade show, exhibitors and visitors can already prepare for Showtech 2013 by using a wide range of online services. In addition to an extensive trade show profile and detailed hall plans, exhibitors will also find the registration documents. Another practical feature for visitors and exhibitors is the the online Travel Center with all the necessary information on travel arrangements and hotel bookings in Berlin. Up to the start of the trade show, new services and information will continuously be added to the new website.
