On August 29, the team of Werner Mocke, director at Messe Berlin and project manager of Stage|Set|Scenery, presented the new concept of Stage|Set|Scenery at the symposium of Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG). Taking place at the Palais am Funkturm on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds (ExpoCenter City), the event was attended by around 100 members of DTHG and invited guests. The international trade fair Stage|Set|Scenery – World of Entertainment Technology will debut from 9 to 11 June 2015 in Halls 1 to 4.

White Light Supplies Wild Oats at Minack Theatre

Rosco Illuminates Theatre Royal, Drury Lane’s Restored Georgian Splendour

Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, first built in 1812 in the heart of London’s West End, has recently completed a £4 million restoration. A key component to restoring the historic venue’s Grand Saloon Bar to its original regency-style décor was keeping the look and feel of the space as theatrical as possible. Architect Norman Bragg and Theatre Royal’s Steve McAndrew, the team responsible for illuminating the space, wanted to install efficient LED lighting to showcase the restored architectural elements, but it was imperative that the modern-day fixtures didn’t distract from the 19th century style of the design.

Of course, Punch Bowl Social patrons can also grab a drink (often literally from a punchbowl) or dine on delicious, creative fare. When Grand Théâtre de Québec decided to update its sound system, one thing was certain: that system was going to be the very best. This is a big theatre, two thousand seats, three balconies; it serves as venue for a wide range of shows from dance, to rock, to orchestral. Robert Charbonneau, head of sound at the Grand Théâtre, assisted by Robert Caux, helped conduct over two years of testing on various loudspeaker, to ensure the new system would cover the theatre's diverse needs. “We had very strict parameters, and wanted to make sure we saw all of our options. Different systems would come in for gain tests, vocal tests and instrumental tests; we would record the results. Then we'd move all around, so we compared the quality of the systems from every seat in the house. Being so thorough helped in the end, because now there is no doubt that the d&b audiotechnik J-Series was the right choice for our space.”

ETC Source Four LED lights world’s longest Viking ship

Around 1025 AD, a fierce 37m Viking warship of the Danish fleet rode the northern waves. Excavated in 1997 from a Roskilde fjord bed, the ship has now been partly restored. A massive steel skeleton has been built around its wooden remains. Roskilde 6 makes a new ‘voyage’, in the National Museum of Denmark’s exhibition Viking, until the end of November. ETC’s Source Four LED fixtures, controlled by an ETC Ion console and Unison Paradigm system, bring the vessel to light.
