Black Light Brings its Expertise to the 2014 Fringe

UK - The 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe was another great success for Black Light, with the company supplying over 700 light fixtures, 16.5 miles of cables and one kilometre of Fairy Lights to the Pleasance Theatre.

During the Fringe, which ran for three weeks during August, Black Light not only supplied the Pleasance with lighting equipment and staging, it also provided all Dancebase venues with lighting and rigging and provided staging to C Venues.

"2014 has seen yet another successful year working with Black Light as our lighting and staging supplier," said Matt Britten, technical operations manager for Pleasance Theatre. "They fulfilled all of our requirements, some of which were very last minute, on time and in good humour. Supporting two sites and 23 temporary venues for the duration of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is no small feat, and Black Light proved themselves yet again to be top of their game. I am looking forward to working with them again on future projects."

In terms of equipment, Black Light continued to champion low-energy lighting technology at the Fringe. For example, it supplied a large number of Robe Robin and ETC LED fixtures to the Pleasance. It also provided full support and technical back up to all of its clients.

"We have many years of experience working for companies involved in the Fringe," says Paul De Luca from Black Light’s hire and sales support team. "One of the key challenges is the sheer amount of kit that has to be moved –– but we have the experience and expertise to do all the necessary forward planning. We also have the local knowledge that means all the logistics go without a hitch. This is vital as gear has to be delivered on time, installed quickly and then, once shows are over, stripped out of venues in less than 48 hours - when we had six artics moving through our warehouse."

To make sure that Black Light served all its Fringe clients to the highest standards, its team started planning in March, with its warehouse staff prepping kit in July. With Black Light’s extensive range of contacts, any un-stocked items where easily found and supplied in time.
