But the theatre produces both musicals and plays, and the noise level from the lighting rig often became an issue: they were forced to turn off movers and keep scroller use to a minimum. So when a lighting renewal was suggested, the managers decided to see what new technology was available. They already had Eos-family control desks in each space, along with Sensor dimming and ETC Net3 networking, so they wanted to get the most out of the equipment they had invested in.

USA - For decades, the Trinity United Methodist Church of Arlington, Texas was based in a facility featuring an 800-seat sanctuary and adjoining classrooms. But by 2010 growing attendance at worship services made clear that in the long run a new campus would better serve its 3000-strong congregation. The church raised funds, bought land and started building. By 2013 it was settled into a brand new $10.65 million home, just over a mile from the old. The centerpiece of the new Trinity UMC is a large, elegantly simple wood-ceilinged sanctuary designed to serve both present and future generations of congregants. Iceland – As a culmination of two years of touring the world, Icelandic band Sigur Rós completed the last leg with Skan PA using the latest addition to their equipment roster. Always a company that likes to take the empirical approach to new technology, Skan has been running the slide rule over their new D80 amplifiers from d&b audiotechnik. Skan’s system designer for the tour Tom Tunney explains their findings: “We took a d&b system out for Sigur Rós late last year. A short run, maybe three weeks, the system was based on J-Series with some Q-Series for fill. We drove the whole PA with D80s.” Tunney is one of Skan’s most experienced system technicians, his post tour observations are not to be ignored.

Sweden - One of the last examples of neo-classical architecture in Sweden, The Stockholm Concert Hall was designed by Ivar Tengbom and completed in 1926. Sited near Hotorget Square, the building's monumental facade cuts an impressive figure with its ten huge Corinthian columns. Its interior is similarly impressive, decorated in part by the work of renowned artists Isaac Grunewald and Edwald Dahlskog. The Konserthuset comprises three separate halls, the largest of which seats 1770 people. In 1971 the venue was renovated by Tengbom's son Anders with a focus on improving its acoustics. Home to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Concert Hall is the principal venue for orchestral music in Sweden as well as being perhaps most famous for hosting the annual Nobel Prize Ceremony.

Germany - The Deutsches Theater, also known as the "Feenpalast", was built in Munich in 1896 in Baroque Revival style by Alexander Blum, Joseph Rank and Karl Stöhr. In 2008, restoration of the architectural complex, which includes the theatre itself and a smaller room for events, got under way in grand style. However the theatre only resumed its regular activity in January this year. An MA Lighting system was chosen to run the completely renewed lighting rig.
