ShowTex Opens New Office and Production Centre and Launches ShowTex Spain
Belgium - After months of preparation and hard work, ShowTex recently opened the doors of its new office and production centre in Burcht, which means saying a fond farewell to its old, but charming building in the heart of Antwerp.
The ShowTex story began 30 years ago under the name Pandora Theatertechniek. Koen Van Kerkhoven and Wim Lemmens specialized in the ultimate combination of textiles in motion and lighting. In the early 80s the duo founded a two-man business, which grew into an international group with subsidiaries in the Netherlands, Dubai, South Africa and Hong Kong and with representatives in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Scandinavia.
Pandora became ShowTex and at the beginning of the 90s the company moved to the former premises of the Wijngaard Natie, located in the heart of Antwerp.
ShowTex continued full steam ahead, its expansion and success eventually making the offices and warehouses in the Everaertsstraat too small, and the small surrounding streets and narrow passageways made moving the ever-growing and expanding truck traffic a challenge.
This is why the search for a new location commenced in 2010. It was no easy feat, since the new building had to meet very specific criteria. After weighing up the pros and cons many times, the choice fell on the former premises of transport company TTC in Burcht. What followed was a major refurbishment, during which the entire building was fully adapted to meet both current regulations and ShowTex needs.
The offices were renovated and decorated with ShowTex’ own materials, the warehouses were expanded and designed to be highly functional with different loading and unloading bays, and in the middle of the building there is even a brand new 15 metre high theatre tower which will serve as a showroom and test area for extra-high curtains and other materials.
The new office is a logistical dream come true and allows ShowTex to grow both at home and abroad.
The latest chapter in further European expansion started earlier this year with the introduction of the new ShowTex Spain office, formerly known as Architectura Teatral. The story of Architectura Teatral began 10 years ago in a small workshop in the heart of Barcelona with three highly motivated entrepreneurs providing mainly theatre solutions. After a couple of years Architectura Teatral – also known as AR-T – started investing in event services as well, while developing its own frame system. In the years that followed AR-T grew fast into a company with offices, warehouses and sewing workshops both in Barcelona and Madrid.
AR-T and ShowTex have always had a good relationship because of their similar approach. The two companies both see the world as a stage and they are both geared towards developing and improving flame retardant soft goods and motion systems, and equally passionate about realizing the creative vision of event and entertainment professionals around the world. Architectura Teatral and ShowTex therefore finally decided to join forces, combining 30 years of amazing stage fabrics in motion with extensive knowledge and experience in the Spanish event and theatre market.
To begin this new chapter, Architecture Teatral is now called ShowTex Spain in order to offer clients a wider variety of products and services, an even more extensive range of skills and expertise, in addition to high-quality custom solutions anywhere in the world.
