USITT Accepting Applications for 2015 Architecture Awards
USA - Nominations for exceptional theater projects for USITT’s 2015 Architecture Awards are open now through Sept. 1. The annual awards represent the top honors given for outstanding theatre architecture.
Any performance space completed within the past 10 years may apply for consideration. Apply here.
This year, USITT recognized Seabury Hall Creative Arts Center on Maui, Hawaii, with its highest architecture award, the 2014 Honor Award. Three other projects received Merit Awards: Stanford University’s Bing Concert Hall, the SF Jazz Center in San Francisco, and New York’s Jerome Robbins Theatre at the Baryshnikov Arts Center.
USITT’s Architecture Commission sponsors the annual awards to recognize excellence in contemporary theatre project design. Architects practicing anywhere in the world may enter one or more submissions.
After the September 1 deadline, a panel of experts will evaluate submissions based on creative image, contextual resonance, community contribution, new technologies used, and functional operation.
The jury may award Honor and/or Merit Awards as they see fit. Winners will be announced early next year. For more information, please visit www.usitt.org/architecture
