Mitsubishi Electric profiles slim cube at Infocomm MEA

Mitsubishi Electric has announced a strong presence at Infocomm MEA 2014 (Dubai World Trade Centre, 13-16 October). The impressive line-up of control room displays on show will include new models seen for the first time outside of the USA, together with a number of application examples demonstrated in conjunction with industry partners Bilfinger Mauell, Datapath, and Matrox Graphics. The systems will also feature products from Mitsubishi Electric’s Security Division, giving an insight into the extremely broad range of expertise available from one of the world’s largest engineering firms.

Highlight of the Mitsubishi Electric stand will be its latest slim profile DLP rear projection cube, designed for demanding 24/7 control room applications requiring the highest quality seamless displays in a compact format. The VS-60HS12 is based on Mitsubishi’s unique air-cooled LED projection engine, delivering up to 60,000 hour lifespan with no maintenance. The 60" displays are nearly half the depth of Mitsubishi’s Seventy Series cubes and offer a true 24 hour, high-performance alternative to tiled LCD displays in compact control suites. The VS-60HS is equipped with an Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) slot, which enables it to be used with a wide variety of specialist display hardware from vendors such as Advantech.

For more conventional control room display installations, Mitsubishi Electric’s Seventy Series cubes have established a solid world-wide reputation for reliability and performance. A typical installation will be demonstrated at Infocomm MEA using its 72" WUXGA VS-72WE cubes in a 2 x 2 format, featuring its recently upgraded 78 Series LED projection engines. Mitsubishi’s patented air-cooled LED light source is designed for up to 100,000 hours continuous operation with no maintenance required.

Also on the stand will be Mitsubishi’s high-end tiled LCD displays, the LM55P1 and LM55S1. These 55" LED-illuminated panels are designed specifically for control room and other demanding applications. A unique mounting system allows the display to fit flush to the wall while remaining totally accessible from the front, making it ideal for applications like compact control rooms or breakout suites where space is at a premium. The LM55P1 is a premium specification display, while the LM55S1 offers a more cost-effective option for less demanding applications. Both are equipped with OPS for maximum versatility.

The various display walls on show will be managed using controllers from Bilfinger Mauell, Datapath and Matrox. The Bilfinger-Mauell X-Omnium platform allows the capture of a wide variety of sources via an IP network, and demonstrating its versatility, the system will use IP Cameras and DVRs from Mitsubishi’s Security Division in conjunction with a Maevox encoder supplied by partner Matrox Graphics, who are also exhibiting at Infocomm MEA. Matrox’s Mura MPX screen control system is designed for high-bandwidth, multi-channel applications requiring the highest possible image quality. Also demonstrated will be a Datapath VSN970 wall controller, designed for complex and demanding control room applications such as military, government and security. All controllers will be managed using Mitsubishi’s latest D-Wall software, version 6.1

Other innovative products on show include Mitsubshi’s LED replacement cube engine, which allows existing customers to replace conventionally-lit display walls with the latest LED technology for improved performance and dramatically reduced cost of ownership. Mitsubishi will also preview its very latest 120 Series display wall cube engine in a 60" cabinet.
